Never cancel existing cover on the strength of a figure from this or any other calculator. If you are replacing a policy, keep the old one in force until the new one has been fully issued and accepted.

The figures are estimates, not quotes

The recommended cover amount is arithmetic performed on the numbers you enter, using the DIME framework described on the about page. It is only as good as the inputs and the assumptions behind them.

The monthly premium is an illustrative order-of-magnitude estimate, derived from published rate tables in the site's source code. It is not a quote, no insurer has seen your details, and no insurer is bound by anything shown here. Actual premiums are set by underwriting and depend on your health, family history, occupation, build and the individual insurer. Real quotes for the same person routinely differ from these estimates and from each other.

Rate tables are reviewed periodically. They are not live market data and may lag current pricing.

No affiliation with any insurer

This site is independent. It is not operated by, endorsed by, affiliated with, or funded by any insurer, broker or intermediary. No insurer has reviewed or approved this content. The site sells nothing, earns no commission and has no affiliate arrangements; it is funded by advertising, as set out on the about page.

Accuracy

The guides are written carefully and corrected when errors are reported, but tax rules, statutory benefits and market pricing change. We do not warrant that the content is complete, current or free from error, and material may be out of date by the time you read it.

Availability

The site is provided "as is" and "as available". We do not guarantee it will be uninterrupted or error-free, and we may change, suspend or withdraw any part of it at any time without notice.

Your use of the site

You may read the site, use the calculator, and link to any page. You may quote short extracts with attribution and a link.

You may not republish the content wholesale, present it as your own, or use automated means to scrape the site at a volume that degrades it for other readers. The site's content and code remain the property of their author.
